Head To The Pointes North Inn For All Of Charlevoix’s Annual Events!

Situated between the western end of Lake Charlevoix and Lake Michigan, Charlevoix is a picturesque town offering a wide variety of anual events that attract both statewide and national visitors alike. We at the Pointes North Inn boutique condotel are proud to offer a comfortable retreat in charming downtown Charlevoix for guests who seek that “home away from home experience” as they partake in the vast array of local events our beautiful town has to offer.

This article is intended to help visitors learn about some of the exciting seasonal events Charlevoix has to offer with the goal to help our guests best plan their visit.

Summer: Raise a Glass at the Charlevoix Craft Beer Festival

The craft beer craze is sweeping Michigan at a speedy pace. Rather than motor around “The Mitten” to hit all the popular breweries, beer lovers can attend the Charlevoix Craft Beer Festival on June 13, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Here, various beer styles ranging from lagers to IPAs, and from sour beers to stouts (and more) can be sampled and enjoyed with local food and live entertainment. This annual event takes place in downtown Charlevoix on the second Saturday of every June at a stunning waterside venue ideal for creating that perfect ambiance to enjoy with friends and family.

Enter the Charlevoix Marathon in June

Looking for a physical activity to participate in while visiting beautiful Charlevoix? Of all the events that take place in the summertime, the Charlevoix Marathon is regarded by many as the most popular. Participants have the option to run a half full marathon, or the 5K. The course is top quality, and awards and medals are presented in a ceremony after the race. Whether visitors intend to run the race, or cheer on the athletes, the Charlevoix Marathon brings people together and creates an incredible atmosphere for excitement and meeting new friends. We also recommend that those who attend the marathon stick around for the post race food, and don’t forget to pick up an official marathon t-shirt!

The race begins in downtown Charlevoix on June 20 at 6:04 AM and ends on the same day at 1:05PM.

Charlevoix Summer Merchant Open House

If you love shopping for unique treasures with discount prices then be sure to visit Charlevoix during the Summer Merchant Open House held on June 11 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The open house consists of participating shops and restaurants opening their doors to visitors in which they offer special deals, snacks, refreshments, prize drawings and more. This event is a popular one for families, as its appeal extends to parents and children alike.

Enjoy Free Summertime Music at Live on the Lake

When it comes to anual events in the Summertime, many people look forward to Live on the Lake–a free music festival that takes place on Thursdays boasting a number of bands, representing various styles of music. Perfect for families and groups of friends, this music festival is free and opens on June 25 in which the country music band Stone opens, and concludes on August 20 with folk / pop singer Matt Gabriel. In between the opening and closing dates music fans can choose from a variety of concert dates to hear reggae, alternative rock, jazz, blues, traditional rock and chill folk music. We recommend picking up some delicious local food from one of many restaurants to create an ideal picnic setting as you enjoy the musical stylings alongside the pristine lake. This way, all the senses are delighted!

Fall Events Begin with the Boyne City Hall Harvest Festival

Active senior couple on a walk on a beautiful fall day

Charlevoix visitors who stay with us at the start of the fall season are known to attend the Boyne City Hall Harvest Festival located roughly 17 miles from town. Charlevoix City Hall advertises this event as a feature in its array of seasonal events, as guests love the scenic drive along US-31 on the beautiful banks of Horton Bay. Visitors who make this drive enjoy the stunning fall colors of crimson, bronze, and gold that adorn the tree-covered landscape, and many pull over to snap memorable photos with loved ones along the waterfront.

Once visitors reach the harvest festival they enjoy a wide array of children’s activities, music, crafts, local fall produce, and much more. In addition, the Boyne City Farmer’s Market operates on Water and Lake Streets where visitors can buy local apples, pumpkins, in-season vegetables, apple butter, honey and cider. After shopping the more than 30 arts and craft vendors featured at the festival, visitors from Charlevoix staying at the Pointes North Inn are welcome to bring back their hand-crafted food items to enjoy throughout their stay, or they can refrigerate their consumables until they are ready to head home.

The Boyne City Hall Harvest Festival takes place on September 26 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM giving visitors several more hours of light to enjoy their drive back to Charlevoix before the sun sets around 7:30PM.

Here, children of all ages submerge themselves in an enchanted display of working model trains, including the popular Polar Express riding train that takes little ones on an exciting voyage.

Other Winter Wonderland favorites include holiday-themed interactive games, a scavenger hunt that’s fun for the entire family, light snacks, a variety of crafts, and delicious hot cocoa is included.
