North Point Preserve, Charlevoix

The 27-acre North Point Nature Preserve is tucked behind Mount McSauba. Moreover, there are wooded sections and open sand dunes along the 2,500-foot beach. In addition, the undeveloped beach preserves three endangered native plant species. For example, porcupines, harbor deer, great blue herons, loons, and eagles can be seen here. Lastly, winter cross-country skiers and summer hikers love the preserve. For example, two trailheads along Mt. McSauba Road provide access to 1.5 miles of simple trails.

Castle Farms

Chateau Farms emanates an amazing otherworldly air with its French Renaissance-style castle and gigantic dragon on the grounds. For example, from a sprawling dairy farm to an informative WWI museum and the famed 1918 Cellars where you may sample Michigan-made wine. Moreover, the state’s largest outdoor model railroad features approximately 2,500 feet (762 meters) of solid train tracks.

Mountain McSauba

Mt. McSauba Recreational Area is a Lake Michigan gem. And, this premier leisure area offers a variety of enjoyable outdoor activities in a peaceful and serene setting. Moreover, a summer disc golf course, seaside dunes, and hiking trails await travelers.

Winter sports include skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, and snowboarding. In reality, a group of local fathers wanted a ski club founded so their kids had something to do in the winter. However, the region is also surrounded by wildlife and a beautiful forest.
